Counselling

People come to counselling usually because they are experiencing distress, suffering, or discomfort and they want to do something to help themselves.

Counselling provides a compassionate, person-centred, and trauma-informed space where you can explore issues important to you with professional support and partnership.

Counselling is a place for respect and non-judgement, safety, exploration and insight, collaboration, deep listening, autonomy, genuineness, and compassion.

We specialise in chronic illness and mental health in sport

Chronic illness

Chronic illness can change the way we view ourselves and our future. I understand the complex challenges as I live with chronic illness myself. It’s not only self-management but navigating our sense of self and identity, grief and loss, and our hope and aspirations for our reimagined future. This is your safe haven where you don’t need to prove or explain yourself. I’ve got you.

We offer group counselling sessions as well as individual counselling sessions.

Sport

We all face challenges at different times of our lives. We’re really good at resting and rehabing our physical injuries so we can get back to training or competing. We need to do the same for our mental health and wellbeing. As an international technical official for weightlifting, and working at all levels of sport, I know firsthand how mental health can be impacted. Experiencing mental health concerns is normal and I am here to support your recovery so you can get back to doing what you love.

Getting started

A very warm welcome.

It may feel a little overwhelming when you first consider counselling. Many people experience some uncertainty about what to expect.

It can be helpful to have an initial 15 minute chat so you can see if you feel comfortable and can ask any questions you may have.

If you would like to do this, please fill out your contact information and I will email you to arrange a time for an initial chat.

Each person is inherently unique, with their own goals, insights, and hopes for themselves. Our counselling sessions reflect this uniqueness, acknowledging and respecting client autonomy, self-efficacy, and self-determination.

My counselling style is compassion-focused, person-centred, and trauma-informed. While reflective listening underpins all sessions, I use an integrated approach depending on the individual needs of each person.

I have a particular interest in Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and use these as well as Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Socratic questioning, creative therapies, and Motivational Interviewing, depending on each client’s individual goals and needs.
