Professional and Personal Coaching

Coaching moves us forward and deepens learning. It starts from a premise that we have self-efficacy and self-determination to explore issues and areas that stretch, challenge, strengthen or change us.

Our offerings are:

  • Health Equity Coaching Program

  • Coaching Discovery Session

  • Coaching Upcoming Leaders Program

  • Coaching for Performance

  • Coaching Women in the Workplace Program

Health Equity Coaching Program

Coaching involves structured conversations exploring issues or areas you would like to change or develop in. It is often short-term, with a focus on deepening learning, gaining skills and understanding around mental health and wellbeing, and progressing towards your goals and aspirations.

Coaching conversations are based on your specific interests, goals and needs, using questions, activities, and reflective listening so you can process, consider, and reflect on issues of importance to you.

Coaching is centred in the present and future. It is a valuable way to explore areas including:

  • Relationships

  • Well-being

  • Change

  • Work

  • Strengths

  • Values

  • Motivation

  • Aspirations and goals

We believe coaching also has an important role around prevention and early intervention of mental ill-health in the community.

Before therapy is required, coaching can work with people who want or need to make external or internal changes in their life. Coaching is client-centred and has parallels to some therapies such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFT).

To reduce financial and access barriers, Freshwater Harmony offers coaching with cost per session based on a client’s income band.

Coaching can be a valuable support for those people who may experience barriers accessing 1:1 support and who would benefit from gaining or increasing self-efficacy in mental health and wellbeing.

Coaching Discovery Session

Coaching Upcoming Leaders Program

Leaders can be found in many areas of an organisation or community.

Leaders with a growth mindset are important role models. They promote a culture of curiosity, innovation, motivation and trust.

An organisation’s well-being is reflected in its culture, and people are at its heart. Ethical leaders are perceived to be courageous, fair and trustworthy. Their integrity is demonstrated by aligned behaviour, values and beliefs.

This program is customised and draws on coaching, mentoring and Motivational Interviewing to work with upcoming leaders. It works effectively as a standalone offering or as a development opportunity within an organisation’s performance appraisal cycle.

Coaching conversations use reflective listening and questioning.

  • What leadership characteristics and actions are most important for your organisation (situation, club, team or business?)

  • What motivates you? Why?

  • What are your areas for greatest development? How could addressing these impact on your career journey?

  • What are your 5 key strengths? When have you drawn on them to manage a similar challenge?

  • When have you overcome a similar issue? How did you go about it?

  • What attributes, values and actions do you believe are most important to ethical leadership? How can you demonstrate these in your workplace?

Coaching for Performance

Performance coaching that focuses on a growth mindset can improve the capabilities of individuals and groups within an organisation.

Performance can be impacted by many and diverse factors. When addressing performance issues, it is essential to be clear on the desired outcome. A punitive or adversarial approach can result in frustration, confusion and decreased motivation. It can also lead to perceived unfairness, grievance and damage to trust.

Alternatively, an approach of trust and relationship building and belief in the ability of the person to grow and develop, can benefit all parties. Clearly defined goals and outcomes and an understanding of any underlying factors that may be impacting the situation is also critical. Rather than creating barriers, it is an opportunity for both the manager and staff member to grow together.

It is also important to recognise that psychosocial factors such as poor job design, perceived organisational injustice, poor communication, over work, and unclear or ill defined job roles can have a detrimental affect on employees. Employers have a legal obligation to address psychosocial risks in the workplace. This makes good business sense as an employee’s motivation, loyalty, capabiliity, productivity and self efficacy contribute to the well-being of the organisation as a whole.

Coaching for Performance is a customised offering and works well as either a stand alone or series of sessions.

In addition to coaching, it incorporates mentoring and Motivational Interviewing to deepen learning and strengthen capability.

Coaching Women in the Workplace Program

Working in an organisation with only 11% of the workforce being women, I have seen firsthand how business practices and career development for women can present unique challenges.

This customised program is for women working at any level or industry. It incorporates coaching, mentoring and Motivational Interviewing to deepen learning and strengthen capability.
